Black Hawk Arrest-Incident Requests
Black Hawk Police provides Gilpin County's most detailed municipal route. Its Records Section instructions direct requesters to a signed form. The office at 221 Church Street accepts requests by mail, fax, delivery, or online upload. Call 303-582-5878 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The form separates Traffic Accident, Arrest-Incident, Photo, Body Worn Camera, Dispatch Audio, and Surveillance Footage. It asks for the incident date, CR number, requester details, arrestee name and birth date, and the requester's interest. A “Photo” request does not guarantee a public booking portrait. Media requires playback and redaction review, and BHPD supplies a cost statement before research begins.

Fields vary by custodian and release decision. Gilpin County has no official sample roster proving that every booking field is public. Protected victim, child, juvenile, medical, and security data may be withheld or redacted.

Do not assume that a cell or pod, medical flag, suicide-watch status, full date of birth, mugshot, officer name, or per-charge bond appears online. Ask Detention or the creating agency which fields it can release under the CCJRA.

For a suspected mismatch, obtain the court disposition and then use the CBI challenge process. Name matching can be ambiguous, and court reporting may lag. A statewide result should be verified with the source agency or court before it is relied upon.
Recent Arrests and Booking Logs
No official Gilpin County booking log exists online. An aggregator's absence or old entry is not reliable evidence. The Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act, CRS 24-72-301 through 309, governs police and booking records. It differs from ordinary CORA routing and from Judicial Branch court access. BHPD's ordinary release target is within 72 hours, but research and unusual circumstances can extend it. Read Gilpin Arrest Counts Carefully
Colorado Crime Statistics is the official route for agency and year data. Query Gilpin Sheriff, Black Hawk Police, and Central City Police separately. Do not combine a count with the county's resident population and call it a simple crime rate without context.
Gilpin County had a 2025 estimated population of 6,073, while Black Hawk can receive as many as 20,000 visitors in a day. The county reported $730.995 million in accommodation and food sales in 2022. Visitor volume and casino activity can drive calls, stops, and arrests involving people who do not live in the county. Central City also crosses the Gilpin and Clear Creek county line, so location affects which agency and court own a record.

Arrests vs Convictions
An arrest documents that an agency took a person into custody or otherwise made an arrest. It does not establish guilt. A conviction follows a guilty plea or verdict entered by a court. Some arrests produce no filed case, and filed charges can be dismissed, amended, deferred, or end in acquittal.

Colorado law can automatically seal some qualifying arrests when no charge follows. For arrests on or after January 1, 2022, the general period is one year, subject to exclusions and longer limitation periods.
