Criminal Cases in Gilpin County Courts
Gilpin Combined Court houses District Court and County Court functions at one clerk counter. District Court hears felony cases. County Court handles misdemeanors, petty and traffic matters, and the first stage of felony complaints. Both sit within Colorado's First Judicial District, shared with Jefferson County. Case codes help identify the track: CR commonly marks a felony criminal matter, M a misdemeanor, T traffic, JD juvenile delinquency, and R certain criminal proceedings.
Black Hawk Municipal Court is a separate custodian for city ordinance, parking, traffic, and municipal misdemeanor files. Order Complaint and Disposition Together

What the Case File Shows
A court file is organized around filed papers and judicial action. It may show multiple counts with different results. Read each count separately rather than attaching the most serious arrest allegation to the whole case.

Certification authenticates a copy but does not add missing facts. Financial detail may appear in a separate register. Probation records are also distinct, and protected supervision details may not be public.
Read the Gilpin ROA Carefully
The ROA is an index-like chronology, not a folder of document images. “Pending” means the matter remains unresolved. “Disposed” means the court took a final action, not that the record vanished. The police allegation begins an investigation, but the court record takes shape when charges are filed. Advisement and arraignment address rights, release conditions, and pleas. Pretrial work may include discovery and motions. The case then ends through dismissal, plea, trial, or another authorized disposition, followed by sentencing when guilt is established.

The sequence is not a promise of timing. Hearings can move, counts can change, and cases can end before trial. Court text reminders may help with future CR, M, T, and JD settings, but a reminder is not a court order. Confirm any unclear appearance instruction with the clerk.
Gilpin Clerk and DA Records
The First Judicial District Attorney keeps prosecution discovery and its own criminal-justice records. That office is not a replacement for the clerk's filed pleadings or the arresting agency's report. Its records request channel charges a $25 search fee before processing, with substantial extra work potentially billed under Colorado law. Access and Restrictions
Colorado court access follows Chief Justice Directive 05-01, while criminal-justice agency records fall under the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act, CRS 24-72-301 through 309.
